Magnesia carbon brick is made of magnesia, heavy – burned magnesia, electrofused magnesia, high purity magnesia and high quality graphite and bauxite additives. Its properties have a great relationship with the graphite content in the brick, because the increase of graphite content, the thermal expansion rate of the brick will decrease.
The magnesium carbon brick has excellent resistance to spalling and erosion. It is suitable for slag line of ladle. In ladle refining, the application of this type of refractory brick has been expanded from the slag line to the side wall in order to meet the needs of producing clean steel.
As a kind of composite refractory material, magnesium carbon brick makes good use of magnesia’s strong slag erosion resistance, high thermal conductivity and low expansion of carbon, and compensates the biggest disadvantage of magnesia’s poor spalling resistance. Its main features are: good high temperature resistance, strong slag resistance, good thermal shock resistance, low high temperature creep.
